PRP has been used in aesthetics for many years now and have been promoted on varies shows such as Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Dr. Oz. The procedures involve taking the patient’s blood and then putting it into a centrifuge. The centrifuge will spin the patient’s blood down and separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. Platelets are what the body naturally uses to heal itself through the clotting cascade and since we are using the patient’s own blood, there is no risk of adverse side effects. When platelets are injected into varies parts of the body, it signals the body to starts producing collagen and re-growing cells.
Face: After the age of 30, collagen is stopped being produced in the face and fine lines and wrinkles start to appear. By re-injecting PRP back into the area we are signaling the body to start producing collagen in that area again and reversing the signs of aging. Because PRP is a natural process, the results are gradual over time and we usually recommend more than one treatment to reach the desired results. On the plus side, once the desired results are met, the time between treatments can be anywhere from 6 months to a year.
Hair: We have had great results with re-injecting PRP into our patient’s scalp to stimulate hair growth. We also add silver to our procedure since studies have shown that some cause of hair loss can be contribute to bacterial or fungal infections inside the scalp. Silver is a known anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial agent. By injecting it into the scalp with the PRP and Vitamin C, we are giving our patients the necessary vitamins to kill of any potential infection while we stimulate hair growth. Because PRP is a natural product, results are not instantaneous and some of our patients will need multiple treatments. However, we have found that many of our patients are happy with the results.
Penis: PRP has been injected into the penis to help with ED while simultaneously increasing sensitivity, width, and girth. The procedure is quick and patients can engage in sexual intercourse that evening.
Vagina: Injecting PRP into the vagina was first done to help with urinary incontinence. However, doctors soon discovered that their patients were experiencing less vaginal dryness, stronger muscle contractions and stronger orgasms during sexual intercourse. The procedure is quick and patients can resume sexual intercourse right after the procedure.
