Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient traditional Chinese therapy dating back to approximately 100 B.C. which involves placing tiny, hair-thin needles in the body along what the Chinese refer to as meridians.

Meridians are “energy pathways” that connect to specific organs. When there is blockage along the meridians, the organs will not function properly. This can lead to acute conditions like the common cold to more chronic conditions like back pain or depression. Acupuncture has been used at our office to treat people with allergic sinusitis, edema, hearing loss, back pain, infertility, menstrual cramps, anxiety, depression, and menopausal symptoms to name a few.

Acupuncture Procedure

An acupuncture session usually takes 45 minutes. After the doctor discusses the patient’s symptoms, needles will be placed in certain locations along the patient’s meridians. The needles will be left in the patient for 20 minutes while the patient rests comfortably. Acupuncture needles help unblock the energy that is creating an imbalance in the patient’s life.

Most patients notice immediate improvement after the first treatment, while some notice the effects the next day.  If you have never tried acupuncture, it is definitely a nice addition to keeping healthy.
